Vinicius Jr Issues Apology After El Clasico Substitution Outburst

Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr has issued a public apology following his angry reaction to being substituted during Sunday’s El Clasico against Barcelona.
The Brazilian international was visibly furious when manager Xabi Alonso replaced him in the 72nd minute with Madrid leading 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu. As he left the pitch, Vinicius ignored Alonso’s attempt at acknowledgment and stormed straight down the tunnel toward the dressing room.
He later returned to the bench after being persuaded by teammates and staff, but his behaviour drew heavy criticism from fans and pundits alike.
On Monday, Vinicius released a statement apologising for his conduct notably omitting any direct mention of Alonso.
“Today I want to apologise to all Madrid fans for my reaction when I was substituted during the Clásico,” he wrote.
“As I did in person in training today, I want to reiterate my apologies to my teammates, the club, and the president. Sometimes passion and the desire to win take over. My character comes from the love I feel for this club and everything it represents. I promise to continue fighting every second for the good of Real Madrid, as I have done since day one.”
Vinicius has been one of Madrid’s standout performers this season, but his latest outburst has reignited debate over his temperament and maturity.
