Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has reportedly vetoed a potential move for Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski, despite manager Ruben Amorim being a strong admirer of the veteran forward.

The 37-year-old Polish international is in the final year of his contract with Barcelona and is widely expected to leave at the end of the season. During his time at the Camp Nou, Lewandowski has maintained his prolific form, scoring 105 goals in 156 appearances across all competitions.

According to The Mirror, Ratcliffe has blocked any approach for the striker due to concerns over his high wage demands. Lewandowski is reportedly earning around £540,000 per week at Barcelona a figure United are unwilling to match.

While Amorim is said to have identified the experienced forward as a short-term solution to bolster United’s attack, Ratcliffe and the club’s recruitment team are prioritising younger, long-term options as part of their new transfer strategy.
